option to knock self out in combat

Postby overtyped » Wed Mar 07, 2018 2:19 am

I was watching video where someone with 1k hard hp got one shotted and died, with no hope of preservation. Wouldnt it be a good idea to give someone the ability to knock themselves out, for those hopelessly outnumbered situations? perhaps it could give a very nasty wound?

the ability could be called facepalm, where you strike your head and fall unconscious
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

leaving a 1 week debuff (similar to outlaw) where you can't use any combat abilities (not even against nidbanes) in that time period, or simply entering a coma stage.

you can only kill someone if their hhp is already low, although you can lower it with a series of smaller hits and than a big finishing hit. i like it this way, killing someone would require a bit of guessing at their total hhp and the option to ko yourself would make death near impossible

that's not true, i watched someone go from 1k hhp straight to 0 hhp one hit.
Also, if we make the knockout part take like 1/3 of your total hhp in a wound, i dont think that many people would be using, but if you are in a hopeless situation, you will still do it.

lol then the guy had more than 1k total hhp and he was missing some a cleave only does 60% hhp, if the cleave does more total damage than their total health itll only do 60% of their total health. concussion ranges from like 7-20% or something so if someones missing 20% of their health and you cleave them for more than their total health and they get 20% concussion itll be exactly enough to kill them

if you saw someone take 1k hhp and die he had to have more than 1k total health and have been missing some before he got hit

Max dmg is 60% + an additional like 13.7% in concussion damage

Still really possible to die to people though

I dunno, concussing yourself seems like a pretty dumb idea. And the only reason to do it would be to abuse the mechanics. I'd rather the death event reworked itself than simply giving a cheese option.
“We still, alas, cannot forestall it-
This dreadful ailment's heavy toll;
The spleen is what the English call it,
We call it simply, Russian soul.”

An idea to consider: Tedium, a Feature.

No.. he wasn't down 20% hhp, and i won't show the video, because it's not up to me, but he did indeed get hit for at least 95% hhp dmg and had 1000 hhp total.

As a side note, if you have 1 hp and KO yourself tresspassing onto a pclaim, you will get a concussion for the knockout lol

i wont believe its possible unless i see proof i mean throughout the 100s of kos weve seen and the probably 100 alts ive koed testing on and simply reading what jorb said in the announcement that shouldnt be possible :THONK:

also coles ive seen 20% concussion for sure, my main actually got 20% the last time it was koed

maybe theres actually some hidden attack that deals 100% grievous damage X D, but as far as i know 60% is the highest...
