More Shields!

This may entirely stem from me not being able to find previous threads on the topic among the tanlged web that is the search option for the forums. But here we go anyways.

More shields should definitely be a thing we add. In real life there is far more then the standard buckler that we use in the game as it stands. We could include full metal shields, tower shields (huge shields with huge mobility penalties), fencing shields, kite, pavise, heater, targe (shields with spikes on them). Each with their own different properties, and being able to make them with metal could give them better defenses.

This being said, there should be a few more shield skills in game, even if costly. Uniquely with tower shields you should be able to do Full Cover, which allows you to hide completely behind the massiveness that is a Tower Shield for a far higher defense, but unable to do more then move at crawl speed if that. Fencing Shields should be included in the Parry Skill IF you are using parry for a bonus on defense (though not enough for it to outweigh the regular use of a shield). A universal skill among them could Shield Bash, add to the Off-Balance of an opponent (or dizzy?) and if used with a Targe shield (the one with the spike on it) itll deal bonus damage.

Lastly, on a partially unrelated note, two handed swords should be a thing. I know this has been asked for before, but this has a second thought behind it this time around. There was a rather infamous skill used in medieval times called "Ending Them Rightly" where a knight would hold the sword by its blade and to great effect bludgeon their opponent with the pommel/hilt of their sword, working particularly well against armored targets.

Truly lastly, we should have some unique combat-oriented guilds to weapons and shields, giving bonus damage (well maintained with a sharpening stone), perhaps a bleed debuff (jagged edges, but sacrifices total damage), infections, possible poisons (from applied poisons?), reinforced for better defenses, and so on.

I say guildings over my other idea, which was to have advanced sword making where you make the blade, pommel, and hilt (or however many different parts there are for each weapon we have), each piece can be customized to apply different stat weights, before putting it all together.

Wouldn't mind any of that.
