Fit for Purpose Containers

Postby Sarge » Sun Mar 18, 2018 8:00 pm

With the recent nerf to cupboards to essentially penalise players for using them in different areas/ways than it seems they were intended and the talk around changing their recipe, especially Jorb publicly stating on more than one occasion that he intends to follow through on this, got me thinking...

Let me be clear, I'm a hoarder and I am anal about having my shit organised. I'm not much of a larper but even then:

I have found it a pita for the longest time to have to just remember what goes in which cupboards and this is amplified to levels out of control in a village. Where are the medical items now? Tools, where are we keeping tools? Ingredients, raw meats, foods, you name it that can't be stockpiled and there is just no way of seeing what's inside a cupboard without opening them one by one until you find what you need.

What if there were more fit for purpose storage solutions that simply outweigh general purpose solutions in such a way that they are the naturally preferred choice?

- Medicine cabinets - can only store items ready to apply to wounds
- Tool Chests - can only store tools

You get the idea, but you'll have to help with suggestions of more types as furniture and such really is not my forte. Especially the larpers and girls who love to decorate their houses etc.

Wine rack is an existing example like this.

  • Tackle box for fishing?
  • Meat storage container? (could put the image of the creature on it like you can for those yeomanry signs?) Maybe we could pretend we're hanging it to age or something instead of just letting it rot?
  • Herb storage container?
  • Something for curio storage

Not sure how to feel about that, tbt. I kind of like that there are generic containers that players can purpose themselves. Rules like that always seem a bit arbitrary.
