I think this depends on what aspect of Easter you want to look at. In the Jewish tradition of Passover, which was the time of Christ's persecution, it could be an avenging angel come to reap the hearthlings... but that's probably the wrong time period as the Germanic regions didn't really start adopting Christianity until around the establishment of the Holy Roman Empire (if I recall my history... it's been too many years, not that important to go look up). That means... I'm not sure what. Could be something to do with a dark spring spirit, could be something to do with the Trickster, Loki (as it is always late March into April for Easter, around the time of April Fools).
