Better way to handle mulch

Postby CaddoPuma » Sat Apr 21, 2018 7:57 pm

Am I the only one who thinks mulch should be able to be put in a barrel and the Q averaged out? Or maybe create a new container that mulch can go in to serve that purpose?

Why would you ever want the quality to even out?

i thought this thread might be about the insane quality spiraling that comes about from compost bins, which is something that might be worth looking at

What do you mean by insane? Soil increases tree quality by only 8% max.

So my trees are evenly Q'ed so I can more accurately predict the Q of the items I plan to make from them.

Use the low quality mulch you make for landfill or for projects where quality doesn't matter. Shouldn't be hard to keep your mulch quality sorted on your own. Crap you throw into the compost bin already averages out in the process.

So it would seem until you realize i have 3 compost bins and my entire claim within the village is limited by village policy to 29x29 usable space. Once I cram in a stonemanison, cooking area, feasting area, leather area, 2 chick coops, a rabbit hutch, claim idol, dream catcher, hearth fire, outside storage, and plowed fields, some of them with trellises... there's not a lot of room for sorted piles of cra... ummmm, I mean... compost. Nor is there any land to fill or projects on which to work that can use up the low q mulch. I dont even know where I am going to put the trees which I intend to grow which is the whole reason I even HAVE mulch.

It sounds similar to my previous thread asking to put the soil into barrels and mixing it with water, to make it easier to fill gardening pots.
