A few changes to trade

Postby Ants » Sat May 12, 2018 11:04 am

First of all, it would be great to be able to buy and sell large objects like barrels or workstations from barter stands. It's a bit annoying to buy drinks by the bucket, y'know? Perhaps special barter stands could be implemented for this since you can't put large objects in cabinets.

Second, we should be able to buy and sell hats from stands. Right now it's possible for a vendor to put a hat on a stand, set a price and scam people out of their money since you can't transfer hat this way.

Third, I noticed that when a vendor wants to buy something expensive like a game time token from their barter stand, their only option is to put multiple stacks of coins in a present box and label it with what's inside. Of course, they could lie about the contents of the box and scam others this way. A transparent box would be really useful to counter this. Then buyers could be sure that they're getting what they paid for.

Glass keys were introduced exactly to trade liftable items.

I agree with the hats proposal.

I think the third proposal is mostly a currency problem. What stops the trader from 1) printing a unique tin coin that is worth 1 gold bar 2) buying game tokens offering just some of these coins and 3) buying these unique coins and offering one gold bar for each?

The game rules don't have to change just to fit the rules of Community Fair.

You could sell objects ever since cairns got added pretty easily and glass keys made it even easier.

But the salesman has to be online to sell them, right? It would be nice if big objects could be sold while the trader is away.

1) Make a small palisade with a gate that opens from the outside
2) Make a cairn allowing trespassing, rummaging and theft in the palisade
3) Place the things you want to sell inside and close the gate
4) Put a stand next to it selling the glass key
5) Logout
6) Login to see that someone bought the glass key, opened the gate and took the liftable itens with them
7) Repeat

Before glass keys I was just changing locks.
And I used fences in stead of palisades since much easier to set up.

Downside is that you can't see what's inside the fence (like the fill level and quality of the barrel/contents).

I don't think thats an issue. Trusted trades are a thing already. Just don't buy from a shady merchant.
And I don't think the game should remove all social interaction.
