Carrot on a stick

Postby replikant8 » Thu May 17, 2018 6:08 pm

This game would really use something to move animals more easily than it is possible with a rope. I have this idea of a crafted "tool" - a carrot on a stick. Instead of pulling animals, we would lead them, in a similar manner like it is with riding a horse, except the animal would be led by a character. This would also encourage more compact layouts for animal pens, since trying to achieve something with ropes is super annoying.

This wouldn't eliminate the usage of ropes, since with them you can transport big amounts of animals at once, it's just another tool to simplify hearthling's life.

A simple recipe - consisting of bough, string and a carrot.

And a picture for visualisation.

i love it and agree it would totally fit within the game. There is also a potential for more nefarious ideas with this.

+1 Anything that makes manoeuvring animals easier than it is by rope would be a blessing! It's also simple and cute, I like it. :D

Just make us be able to use the ropes to tangle animal's first legs. That would make them immobile and let you do whatever you want in your pens.

But it doesn't completely solve the issue, I want to move them around, not immobilize. Getting the animal into the smaller pen on a rope is the most annoying part actually, them escaping their pens sometimes is another. In addition, it makes things problematic with bigger amounts of animals. Let's say you have 20 animals, you will probably have to do a few rounds with ropes to tangle all of them, then another few to untangle when you're done... not much in favour of this idea.

I heard the idea from someone else, but shepherd's cane/crook seems like it would be a better concept than a carrot on a stick.

Elaborating on the idea tho, I think a cane could let you move them like a wheelbarrow, but whether that animal listens to where you tell it should be based off of your CHA and/or STR, maybe the higher of the two?

Maybe have a x*y cap that once you pass it, they always listen. So as to take the grindyness out for dedicate players, also to give new players more incentive to get better ¦]

Idk im just throwing ideas out there, but I would like to be able to wrangle animals in smaller pens a bit easier.
