Deer Feeder

Postby RedKGB » Mon May 21, 2018 12:51 am

So, been chasing this damn deer across the woods for 3 hours, and that damn bastard will not stand still long enough for me to shot him. Finally giving hunting a chance. So got to thinking, why not build a deer feeder, or it could be an all animal feeder. It will not attract animals that are lower then the ql of the food in them. This way I can kill one, and since we have herbivores in the area it will increase the numbers of carnivores as well.

Sounds like you are a bit new to haven, you should be glad you didn't get a shot off on that deer. It'd of aggroed you and smacked ya.
-1 to the feeder, does not seem like a very good solution to the problem.
Could be argued that they should stay still longer, but even in that case you wouldn't want to risk shooting at them unless you can already melee them. Maybe what archery hunting needs is for certain animals to be more likely to just flee when shot at rather than beating you down.

I think with a little workshopping this could be a worthwhile idea. Build-able structures that add a static percent increase to a specific animal spawning in an area would be a meaningful and useful option. For example a salt block crafted from salt, or say a grain feeder, to attract deer. A honey box to attract bears, a stuffed baby mammoth for mammoths and so on.

That being said it sounds like your marksmanship isn't high enough if the deer didn't stop long enough for you.

I fully accept sucking as a hunter.

MM is 40, arrow ql 50, hunters bow ql 60. Able to kill boars on ridges with 2 shots. Those dang deer don't stand still long enough to get to green portion on the aim bar.

yeah you suck as a hunter. marksmanship of 40? your other stats cant be much better, so if you miss you get buttfucked. bows are reasonably cheap at the fair if you can get there. hell i'd even make you one for free if ya come across me. though it won't be the best this world can offer.

get that marksmanship up. you wont stop gaining aim speed until your skill is double that of your bow/arrow quality. whichever is lower.

I was going based off of ROB needing a min 30 to 40 to one shot a deer.

However that being said once I heal up I will bump it to 50.

Part of my problem is I play over satellite so I have a built in lag, while the deer standing period is good enough for other highspeed connection, for me it leaves me in tears as a gamer.

lag has little to do with it, your aim speed at those levels is a joke. hell i have over 600 marksmanship and im still not satisfied with mine.
