Lit Torch’s stands Repel Midges

Flies have been a bit of a nusaunce but was wondering if it is possible to make lit torches and lantern stands and maybe even lit torch’s and lanterns held by your hand naturally repel these swarms? Would give a useful reason to make more candles and adds more value to wax products while also providing a way for people to at least sort of defend themselves with some sort of cost.

Also if placing a standing lantern or torch stand down at least allows people to keep their bases from getting attacked with the ability to at least make home not a bug swarm with some effort in maintenance.

+1, my only concern is that light typically draws insects, so maybe it attracts midges to them, then kills em? Good enough I suppose, unless you really want a midge-free zone, dead or not dead.
