Fish and fishing gear

Give all fish +2 stat feps and make fishing gear increase their quality like axe increases stick quality from block splitting.

Make the fish relevant! It doesn't have to be end game, but at least to late mid game, before cheese or pies!

+2 is too mutch for just a fish, this would be imbalanced if you will have access to +2 food in first day of playing H&H

This is probably the biggest obstacle to balancing fishing. It's hard to make it both "relevant in lategame" and "not completely broken at the start of the world."

nah, just need to add water creatures that are larger, which is why i have repeatedly mentioned oceans and fishing being more akin to like whaling or something. Or a place where you find the much better fish, that you wouldnt have access to early in the game due to how dangerous it would be.

Or you could make fishing rod affect the fish.
Low effort but makes an immediate and important difference.
Advanced water content is cool but making new stuff and forgetting about the old(just like white clay became useless next to pink clay) is a bad idea. It creates a lot of unused resources that could easily have a place in the actual gameplay.

been suggested before, by me even. jorbtar doesnt want to increase fish quality through the rods.

dunno why they hate fish, but they do. as evidenced by how broken the fishing system and the end result has been for the majority of havens life.

fishballs are nice though.

if you want fish to be viable endgame, make some recipes where the fish quality doesnt softcap anything because it isnt applied.
Newbie and noob do not mean the same thing.

Neither do figuratively and literally.
