Fishing as a Quest System

Currently fishing is boring and outside of the credo no one fishes due to poor rewards.

would be interesting if while you were fishing you could discover non-npc quests which boost fishing qualities and rewards (similiar to the new quest quality reward mechanic)

what i'm thinking is that these quests can only be found while fishing. either:
- - fishing up an item which could be studied/used to start a fish quest
- - seeing a 'curious' (random, seen solely by the fisher) event which you need to investiage

these quality and (potentially) rare fish rewards would be local to the fishing area

Ultimately: the idea i'm trying to get across is that anglers should be able to familiarize or otherwise learn the secrets of a fishing area, much like anglers in real life. the more often a person fishes a single area, the more familiar they would become with fish patterns, honey holes, etc. which would translate in-game into quality increases, yield increases, or other tangible benefits.

I like all of these ideas. Would make fishing more fun for sure; I think all tasks in the game could be improved with something like this and Jorb did say once he wanted to expand on the quest system.

also, I really like the idea of rarely coming across a talking fish but that should also mean finding a talking whale would be even more fun.
