Wall Braces

Postby linkfanpc » Thu Aug 09, 2018 4:56 pm

1 bar of hard metal and 15 blocks of wood.

Built onto any wall segment or cornerpost. When smashing a wall, any cascading stops when it hits a wall brace. Wall brace is destroyed in the process.

Cannot be built adjacent to each other, and falls apart after 1-3 hours.
Total misplay.

Useful idea! Might be a bit cheap, compared to the cost of the wall, though I suppose that is equivalent to a mine support.

Could be two or three hard metal, or maybe scale with the wall, ie wooden one, 2 hard metal, 20 wood, for palisades, and another one, 5 hard metal and 40 stone, for brick walls.

Could be that it must be built both outside and inside, the reasoning beign that it would be easier to defend sieges if you could brace from the inside only.

Or instead could only be built while the claim is at full shield?

Instead of decaying in a few hours it could be a one-shot thing. After withstanding a single wall domino effect it is destroyed. Maybe a drying period too?

Drying period sounds good. Maybe and hour or two.
Total misplay.

Is it a thing that stops siege when the wall is wrecked?..

It is meant to be used passively, so that when you are replacing, rebuilding or extending walls, the cascade won't destroy unnecessary segments, wreck gates forcing you to replace all keys, or even destroy the entire wall requiring you to rebuild from scratch.

It is not meant for that, no, and measures should be in place to prevent that them from being used to prevent sieges.
Total misplay.
