Extra Otter Item

Postby synntax33 » Mon Aug 20, 2018 3:50 am

I was thinking, after reading thishttps://oceantoday.noaa.gov/seaotteranatomy/, that a cool curiosity or addition would be the "Otters Pocket", found when butchering an otter, and could either be a curio, or supply a random material like what washes up on shore, or a specific item, for example their favorite rock, which could be a curio or be a crafting item maybe for blunt weapons when/if they get added? Or, and probably not useful, double as a container for your inventory... Super rare of course? I recently butchered a seal and got the flipper, which is another fine bone/curio and it got me to thinking about variety, almost every animal has a finebone that doubles as a curio

Otter pocket? Should be a gildable that adds one inventory slot for each gilding of that type you have. >.>

Actually, I like your idea about 'random material' or 'favorite rock'.
jorb: I don't want *your* money. You are rude and boring. Go away.
Sevenless: We already know real life has some pretty shitty game mechanics, it's why we're here instead.
Avu: The end is near it has finally come to pass: I agree with Lunarius...
Shubla: There are also other reasons to play this game than to maximize your stat gain.

Haven otters are freshwater otters that don't have pockets or favorite rocks. However I won't throw hissyfit if either is implemented.

And how do you feel about the freshwater "Walri"...

Beats not having Walri at all, I guess. One could argue that they're abstraction to the fact that Norse/Germanic/Slavic people that Hearthlings represent could relatively easily trade for Walrus parts, mostly ivory, from Laptev Sea (part of Arctic Ocean). Sea otters with pockets and favorite rocks however live in the coasts of Northern Pacific Ocean.

Game does have mammoths (extinct) and trolls (mythological) but the thing is that it does have sort of an internal consistency, with almost all things at least somewhat related to Northern and Eastern Europe. Exceptions do exist, like wine (too convinient to not have) and pumpkins (implemented before devs solidified the setting.)

Note that I mentioned not objecting adding Otter Pocket or Favorite Rock.
