Click on craft material to navigate

Postby Nethis » Sun Sep 09, 2018 6:22 pm

Story:
Little Mandy wants to create a Linen Shirt. Linen shirt is created from Linen Cloth and String. But Little Mandy lacks Linen Cloth, so she has to create it first, before Linen Shirt.

Current solution:
Little Mandy has to manually navigate through menu: Craft => Processing & Materials => Sewing & Fabric => Linen Cloth. Then she can create desired material item.

Proposed solution:
In craft window for Linen Shirt Little Mandy can click on Linen Cloth image, so she can start creating Linen Cloths without the need of navigation through craft menu.

I think that have been proposed one time at least... Some custom clients offers "search" option, where You just type what You want to build and I personally, see this as a better solution, but anyway, +1

Also in later phase it could be extended with "back button" so player could navigate freely around materials required for one crafted item.

I'm not sure what to think of this. It would be possible and somewhat easy to implement for many recipe inputs, such as your example of linen cloth. But the "String" input that you mention confounds the situation somewhat, as there are several crafted and non-crafted items that can fulfill that input (and many other inputs still offer no craftable alternatives at all). It feels somewhat misinforming to present a single (or perhaps a list of) craftable items on such inputs, almost implying that the presented alternative(s) is that which must be used, which I don't really like.

Good job digging that ;)

Later I'll give it longer thought how to relate to Lofar concerns. Don't have that much time durning work week. Perhaps we could come up with some well-tailored solution. It would be also nice if you Loftar could extend your thoughts about the idea, so I have more input to work with :)

I suggested it here viewtopic.php?f=48&t=60956, other ppl also want that, so tmm its what you should think about, Jorbtar. Im suer that this improvement would be better than for example louses :? Even if you have no exact idea you can just reread suggestions, they are full of ideas, so gl.

Signed.

If the specific material is directly craftable give it a green border and let it be clickable, if it's a general group of items give it a grey border, and if it's a specific material not in the crafting menu give it a blue border.
