Just as we have to make yarn, so should we have to make thread from flax and hemp before processing it into cloth.

Would make sense, but I'm not fan of adding additional spam-crafting.

In most games this would be spam-crafting, in this game it could be perceived as an opportunity to further enhance/damage the qualities of the materials. Remember, every stage, every time you touch a product on its way to being a finished product, you damage/improve it's Q.

Also, if we didn't change the recipe for cloth, it would increase the requirements for making cloth. (x fiber into y thread into z cloth)

I'm not a big fan of increasing amount of fibers that go into a cloth, but turning spindle/loom from being a factor in the resulting items quality to functioning as a cap could be a good thing.
