Make merchant's capes more like shop hats

Right now they're not practical to wear because people can knock you out and steal them from you. Plus they can't be gilded, meaning they're taking up an equipment slot that could be filled with a more useful cape. They're only worth wearing on alts that never step out of safe village grounds or left in your hearthfire as potential trade fodder.

Could they be made unstealable and wearable in a cosmetic slot? I hate the idea of losing my merch cape if the world accidentally gets nuked and I happen to be wearing it when it happens :/

Eh. Just because that's how things have been in the past doesn't mean they ought to stay that way. It's really impractical like this. I love my cape regardless though <3 <3

Though I do like the idea of having a item that's risky to wear and can be lost in pvp.
I'd settle for being able to keep it through to next world as long as it's in your possession (wearing it, for example). I too have the irrational fear of being unable to logon before the reset to shove it into my hf and losing it.

I feel like the pvp system needs to be fixed before an item like that is fun. As things are I feel like it would be nearly impossible for most players to protect their cape from titans..

I agree that it is stupid that their ownership can be transferred. They are a reward or merit to the player who found bug or something. Being able to just steal/buy them is stupid.

Also you should make them persistent over worlds! And give those capes back who had them in the previous worlds!

Dev capes are not a gift but a curse (as they're the equvalent of a target painted on your back).

Merc robes are a dime a dozend though (creation wise) and their inventory expansion makes them a must-have for most. I would like to see them turned into a normal gildable cape, with the inventory expansion being put into gildings (pockets to put on stuff) that - instead of expanding the main inventory - maintain a separate variable sized one (basically displayed like a belt, just shown as an additional, separate row of slots in the inventory screen).

I got offered 5k GQ for one of my capes.
Does the reward for finding bugs need to be more valuable?

I'd argue perhaps they'd become less of a cool rarity if anybody can run around with them risk-free
