Quarry's Show Stone Type

To add some interesting surface texture to the world and make Quarry spots more logical, make the surface stone show the color of the stone you get from it.

Would probably just look like cancer tbh

My nearby quarry has basalt, limestone and quarts all within maybe 35 tiles

would almost certainly look horribly ugly so why not just tell what the quarry tile is based on inspect???

What it would look is natural. Also, because the point would be to not have to stop and inspect or dig to find out what it is. Just like in real life you'd look and go "Oh hey! Schist! Basalt! Granite!" or Whatever the hell it is.

Tell on inspection literally does nothing to resolve my main complaint here.

Im okay with this if next world gen makes rock swaths more singular in type. Or if we keep our pleasant grey and just give it flecks of color to hint at the actual stone.

I can't imagine why people don't want the stone to show the natural color of the stone of which its comprised. I mean, the color fleck thing isn't terrible, but I'd much rather have the natural beauty of the stone.

I really liked it too. Maybe people are thinking it will visually look something like this:

(Imagine two types of stone)
Which is pretty ugly due to terrain transitions being turned off and hearthling interference. But I think those natural stone surface deposits would have much smoother borders between stone types.

Assuming quarries work the same way as cellar boulders, aren't they just a representation of the subterranean stone type? I don't imagine this would leave many quarries with multiple colour variations except for on mountains. Which already have their own textures. I don't think it would be too ugly.

It would make it easy to find stone for larpy building purposes and if you think quarries are ugly you can just avoid them.

They are just boring places where people rarely dig rocks. Why even go there.

Admittedly I've found quarries with several stone types more often than a single stone type, but I still think it would be a thing of beauty and interest. I suppose there's an argument to be made for mountainous areas... But not stone fields.
