Fire is not behaving naturally...

This is ridiculous.

You shouldn't be able to do this without the fire jumping to the logs and then setting the thatch of that house alight.

Hearthlings should have to respect the flames.

I already see a new type of griefing - arson. I am not opposing the idea though. If this eventually ends up in the game, we will need some firefighting tools and equipment. How did our ancestors fight fire?

They didn’t. They moved

um actually not

sometimes villages were completely burnt down, then they basically just rebuilt the whole village on top of the old one, if the location was feasible (usually they were)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Fire_of_London

Even with 17th century firefighting technology, a single bakery started a fire that left 70 000 people homeless. Admittedly people with Haven tech wouldn't probably build as dense settlement.

Also interestingly, this event marked the beginning of end to the Guild monopolies in London. Carpenters Guild was forced to lift their restrictions on who could work as carpenter which led to eventual domino effect of guilds losing their grip on commerce.

Sometimes you literally do have to burn it all down and start over.... :?

Just to note, arson has come up.... a few times, anyway: search.php?st=0&sk=t&sd=d&sr=posts&keywords=arson&fid%5B%5D=48.

I was so incensed at the time by this outrageous inconsistency that I neglected to conduct a satisfactory search.

However I'm not asking for the ability to burn down houses or palisades. I would simply like to see a radius around a lit fire where any dry wood would have a chance to catch alight.

Why not make irrlichts ignite wooden objects they pass through, would save coles and his merry men the trouble to run around with torches.

Lame jokes aside: fire can be a fun thing to play with in single player games, allowing it to spread in a MMO... not so much.

Agreed. Not saying that it couldn't work, but it would take so much effort and time to balance and make useful, for a reward that I doubt would be worth the investment.
