For those who don't know, a distaff was a tool that was used to hold unspun fiber while the spinner worked a drop-spindle or spinning wheel. I would like to see distaffs (distaves?) added so we can load more than a cupboard's worth of fiber onto one.
For Haven and Hearth I see it functioning in the following manner:
Add fiber to the distaff and set next to a spinning wheel or loom.
You would then treat the distaff as a source of material to work from like you would a barrel, etc.
You could access multiple distaves as you would multiple barrels around your work station.
Distaves would be able to significant amounts of fiber, equal to two or three cupboards worth, at least. (Ideally a distaff would hold at least 384 units of fiber, so a cupboard of cloth could be spun from a single distaff).
While I hope that spinning fibers of all kinds into thread becomes necessary in the future, and the overall input of all cloth-based products increased, I could easily see this device being incredible handy for tailors and other fiber specialists.
