"Bomb" flags in mining

Postby Ag_Revol » Mon Oct 29, 2018 10:41 pm

So I've got a perfect idea how to make HnH a better place for us all (Or at least for me).

We've got a minesweeper minigame in mining cave-ins, right? (At least if you're as retarded as me and do like mining without support's). But where is flags to mark dangerous tiles? Jorb? Loftar? Anyone? It is very important, I'd call it a critical bug that needs to be fixed immediately. Please fix.

Like this, but placed on the cave tile itself.

Ye, that's probably all. Move on.

P.S. My head hurts from all those boulders, please save me.

+1 to this...

Should they be short-term or permanent, though? Definitely need a cost either way with longer being more costly than shorter.

It's up to discussion. IMO we need both short-term and long-term ones. Can't say how balanced it is but maybe short-term can be free or near-so? I don't think it matters so much, what could possibly go wrong, it's just flags for miners, right? (inb4 hard flag abusing)

Some kind of "Marker Slab"? An item that can be placed flat on the ground and picked back up in the same way you hang things on the walls of your house. Subtypes that have a wooden plank or sheet of parchment attached you can use to display information like a signboard without blocking pathing would be nice too, plenty of applications outside of mining.

Is there a reason we can't just pave the ground around the "mines". In my opinion it is way cooler to just set up your own colour scheme for 1,2,3. There are so few cave in tiles that anyone could instantly figure out the patterns.

It's fine when there's no cave-ins near, but if you encounter a place where there is a bunch of dangerous tiles it is very hard to remember every cave-in tile, even with paving. I mean situations when there's about 3-4 cave-ins in a circle.

This is what I do already. I've ran into some "best guess" situations even on just L1, though.

This already exists, it's called paving.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy
