I am one of those that supports variety for varieties sake, and have absolutely no issue with several crops serving the same purpose. When we get seasons added it could very well be that barley, wheat, rye, and (oats?) would all prefer different seasons to grow optimally in. This would serve the multi-tiered purpose of slowing quality growth speeds, providing a variety of resources, and a little bit of historical interest to the game.
We could also see Caraway added with Rye, since it was a common plant used to season rye bread and other foods.
jorb: I don't want *your* money. You are rude and boring. Go away.
Sevenless: We already know real life has some pretty shitty game mechanics, it's why we're here instead.
Avu: The end is near it has finally come to pass: I agree with Lunarius...
Shubla: There are also other reasons to play this game than to maximize your stat gain.
