snowshoes

Now that seasons are confirmed..

snow should slow you down to walking speed! Maybe even crawling if its deep. You could plow it off or use snowshoes.

Snow having a depth does sound cool, but really I question if things need to be that complicated for such a simple matter.

It could be as simple as having 2 terrain types — shallow and deep snow, each with corresponding maluses to movement speed, etc.
Deep snow converts to shallow snow if you shovel it, and then to original tile type if you continue shovel/plow it.

Also one could not use things like carts or wagons in deep snow. Only sleds. Horses should also not work in deep snow. (One could use skis instead of them)

good idea! during winter there should be no animals and forageables in the wilderness and it obviously shouldn't be possible to farm anything at all

devs should also make food spoil so people die during winter regardless of the amount of food they had

they could also make water in barrels freeze and break barrels(or whatever container had water inside of it)

Horses can traverse deep snow mister. It's just extra hard for them but still can.

I'm not a horse expert, but my little experience says it's easier for horses than for people... not saying it isn't tiring (it is), but horses do seem to have an easier time of it. And really deep snow at that... stuff the average person couldn't walk through, you'd have to snowshoe over, up to the horse's chest or so (about a meter).

You truly are an idiot. Dumbest being on this planet.
How do you think that people survived wintertime in countries like Finland?
Food can be preserved, and some food is still available during winter. (Such as fish and game)
