Idea, Fridge

Postby boogis » Thu Jan 03, 2019 6:12 am

im new to the game but old players complained that some stuff decay like Sulfur if you leave it and dont use it but at the same time fresh meat is never dacay if you keep it for years in the cabinets. this doesnt make sence for such hardcore and detailed game. what i suggest is to make it more difficalt yet more interesting you gotta implement fridges. but not new fashioned fridges ofcourse but the one people used in old times. people got ice (not the one you got from drug dealer, you punks ¦] ) normal ice and they put it in selar where it was cold for a long time. so we have moutains in the game right? so if players want to keep their meat, milk or other food fresh they gotta go on top of the mountain collect ice, fill up the caravan wagon full of ice and bring it home and create a special item alike an oven or forge in the selar or maybe it will be even a special building specialy made to keep stuff cold if filled up with ice. so something like that. and it will make much more sense in termes of realism and make game more indepth.

Some of the items, like sulfur, are there for PvP use, and stockpiling it causes potential issues in game balance. That's the reason they decay when nothing else does (short of the items getting intentionally destroyed). This is one of those ideas that has been coming up as long as I've been playing.

i have some addon to this idea. when meat has gone bad then flys come and place its larva (babies) you can collect then dry out and then use to feed fish in your ponds, yes your own fish farm, same as you plant a trees for better quality on your territory, same you do with fish.

The only items that decay are the "local resource" items, and even then not all of those do. There's only a few items that decay, and without looking on the wiki, I can only think of brimstone off the top of my head I can say for sure decays. (Note: I said sulfur; probably should have used "Brimstone")

For future development.... I have no idea what's going to be done.

Brimstone (sulfur) and Ancient Roots decay so that you cant stockpile it for sieges or immediately healing all your wounds. Note that both are related to PvP. It makes sense gameplay wise, but admittedly bit less lore-wise.

I'm not so sure what to say about meat decaying/spoiling. It would be realistic of course, but realistic doesn't always make good game. Currently starvation isn't real threat after you clear the very early game and that is unlikely to change unless changes were made that would essentially be a nuisance to players (making all food decay over time for example.)

yes u r right and thats what i thought. cos it seems that players reach top level and then they keep collecting goods so we can give them more hard times. we dont know either its for good but i think its for good cos what metter is skill, if you have skill you can create food. if you wanna collect a lots of food then work for it and bring some ice, otherwise go to forest and catch fresh one. especialy seafood, how come it is not spoiled after one day? maybe put more food in the world cos now we dont have too many but you dont need it cos once u cought it after long search it can be kept forever. instead put more food in the world and make it spoiled. its seem all the same but players will have something to do. and food will have more value, good food will. and players will have better experience cos it will feel like real.

im neww to the game and im not sure what u use snow and ice for now but it seem quite reasonable if we would use it to keep food fresh. this is detailed game and i think we better keep going that way. and spoiled food its what we missing for more datalisation. and it make sence.

for example bad veggies can become organic matter and compost so you can make higher qlty soil means hq food. make is cicle and connected. like in nature. i think its good.
