Archemedes, herald, and more ( machines , automation devices

Postby viznew » Mon Jan 14, 2019 6:48 pm

This whole post is full of crazy

antikythera mechanism

My idea for this is equip in hand when collect from node 3-5 times and you can just look at it to see when rdy to harvest no need to use alts to check time

water clock

Fill with water to point which matches time needed and will activate a seperate mechanism (open gate, light fire, ect)

Add various gravity engines (water mill, weight counter blance) and and auto run a loom or couldran for short time but manually need reset by hand

Lol complex machines basically like I can auto make bread all I add is ingredients and reset it and click it on but only bread for other types need whole new machine

And the worst of the bunch get rid of roads and an odometer cart that you pull along and only from a radius around that cart can you build roads to connect forgien roads you gotta haul the cart to it and accept it

Ok I had alot more but I'm terriable at clearly stating my vision

As a rule of thumb, everything that makes life easyer and less boring/grinding for players is a great idea. Everything that makes the game harder is crap coming from sadistic tendencies of Jorbtar helped by the few players with the same kind of disorders.

Rough idea is definitely here, and I could agree with a level of automation akin to the windmills but for other tasks. I think a mystical approach might be better for some of these tasks though.

ok now i got time lets do this a bit better mabye

since oceans and stuff in coming

The Archimedes Claw

The Archimedes Claw is one of the most notorious of his inventions, designed to repel the powerful fleet of Roman galleys from the seaward walls of Syracuse. Plutarch, Polybius and Livy all speak of huge beams that could be swung out over the walls and some of these dropped huge weights, punching holes through the ships and sinking them. Others had a claw or grappling hook, which grabbed hold of the rigging or rails of a galley, raising it, shaking it and capsizing it. For example, Plutarch wrote:

Plutarch (45 CE -120 CE)
Parallel Lives: Marcellus

At the same time huge beams were run out from the walls so as to project over the Roman ships: some of them were then sunk by great weights dropped from above, while others were seized at the bows by iron claws or by beaks like those of cranes, hauled into the air by means of counterweights until they stood upright upon their sterns, and then allowed to plunge to the bottom, or else they were spun round by means of windlasses situated inside the city and dashed against the steep cliffs and rocks which jutted out under the walls, with great loss of life to the crews. Often there would be seen the terrifying spectacle of a ship being lifted clean out of the water into the air and whirled about as it hung there, until every man had been shaken out of the hull and thrown in different direction, after which it would be dashed down empty upon the walls

a ship attachment? say modular ship designs, hull is base and you build sails and/or the claw or fishing nets? or tow lines or animal pens instead of cargo holds and so on so every ship is unique in a way also a wall attachment but only works in water so best put where can over hang water or something (crazyness)

Archimedes’ Death Ray

Now when it comes to credibility, Discovery’s Mythbusters already took two digs at the technology, and sort of disproved its potential. On the other hand, MIT conducted their tests in 2005 (by using mirrors in parabolic arrangement and a replica of a Roman ship), and they were actually able to set the ship on fire. However, in their case, the ship was stationery – which would have been impractical in a real-time scenario with the undulating waves and the ongoing naval maneuvering. But even this predicament was solved, when a Greek scientist named Dr. Ioannis Sakkas was actually able to set a moving ship on fire from a distance of 160 feet (49 m). He did it by distributing a total of seventy mirrors (each having 15 sq ft area) among seventy (or sixty) men, and the concentrated beam reflected from these individual pieces was able to set a rowboat aflame, thus possibly lending credence to Archimedes’ Death Ray weapon

a hearthling mans a mirror on the walls points at ship the more mirrors the more damage but like say row boat 3 mirrors minimum and bigger ship like 5 miroors minimum something like that

Change the game to look like this too when they add it.

Automation lies outside the spirit of the game imo.

Automation could enter the game to leave for the bots a bit less. But to each his own...

Yeah just put what would functionally be a bot in the game so people don't use bots. Smart.
