limiting best thing to the ugliest coat ever.

+ inventory space thingy to all coats

there is never enough inventory space to begin with.

Problem is that current inventory system doesn't allow too incremental increases. Since Merchant's Robe gives extra row, other coats and robes should give less and that is currently impossible. It would make sense though that coats other than Merchant's Robe would have pockets but currently there's no way to do that without giving them sub-inventories that you would have to click open, forgot to empty, etc.

Uh... what?

Edit: Ok, I think I get what you're saying. Maybe. Merchant's Robe needs to have value and distinction, however.

It would but it would be harder to indentify the equipment of a stranger at first glance, especially if you aren't familiar with how everything looks yet

+1, not that it will matter anyway.

..... Oh well? How is this even relevant? Have you seen the shit that comes out of Haute Couture fashion? I can't recognize what strangers are wearing in real life some days.

In all seriousness, I don't see how this is even something to concern yourself with. So what, you can't identify what they're wearing. If they're wearing a Necro Robe you pretty much can't anyway.

Sevenless: We already know real life has some pretty shitty game mechanics, it's why we're here instead.
Avu: The end is near it has finally come to pass: I agree with Lunarius...
Shubla: There are also other reasons to play this game than to maximize your stat gain.

Ideally, when player looks at game screen it should be obvious to him what goes on. I think dyeing clothing would be very minor offender for this issue though.

In Haven: someone you don't know runs toward you = you have a problem, the gear that character is currently displaying is irrelevant.

Even a naked one could equip a complete set of gear from some troll belts within his inventory, in a second (using a script, that then initates combat).
