Deplete rare resources on launch day

Postby jordancoles » Mon Jan 21, 2019 1:12 am

I think that once the world has been generated all rare resource nodes should start out empty. If all nodes are ripe for the picking the second the server goes live, people will simply spend the first 5-10 hours spamming alts, roaming around within 4-6 tiles of their hearthfires and gathering and alt vaulting every resource they can get their hands on. Not fun. It keeps people from actually playing the game.

Please deplete all rare resources at launch so that we can actually play the game instead of neckbeard wildy spawns.

Thanks!

This is just from memory, but I think Jorbtar started W10 with all natural resources having one resource.

Start empty and give random timer till the first spawn sounds good. Instead of swarming the new world like locusts it would (probably) push people more in the direction of explore what's around and decide where to stay for now keeping an eye on the nodes found.

It doesn't prevent alt-spawning completely though. I can imagine people just logging out when they found a node, create another char, rinse and repeat until you have an alt stationed close to almost every resource node in the world. Sounds really boring though, therefore hopefully will happen on a limited scale.
Too old to rock-n-roll, too young to die.

You havn't been here long enough, else you would know that exactly this will happen for every resource that is remotely interesting.
