Undersea Tunnels

I really like the idea of continents and how ocean is going to limit fast travel and make it challenging getting from one body of land to another, and all the fun implications it would have on the game(naval warfare, intercontinental trade). However, unless the space beneath the ocean is made unminable, this whole thing - dead on arrival. What's the point of wasting time sailing, when an underground road is instant and 100% safe. I give it 2 months tops before people connect all the continents with tunnels, and then just use them.

And please don't consider half measures like making it x10 harder to mine under sea or even disabling fast travel underground - people will still prefer tunnels.

Building stuff underground being easier than on the surface is a general problem, my answer to that would be darkness, combined with an end to teleportation.

But in general: there shouldn't be an underground connection between continents.
One could also argue that lakes should be an obstacle on the levels below them.

I completely agree with subways. It was the first thing to come to my mind when some wannabe tyrant complained about naval battles and blockades.

And thinking should be rewarded over grinding, at least in games.

Removing teleportation wouldn't work because then nobody would want to play the game. You don't really see anything new or interesting by running around so you're just adding to the tedium for the sake of what, realism? Most people fast travel even in Skyrim where there's actually interesting shit to see in the world, but in Haven it's really all the same.

Definitely agree... Tunnels under ocean will make people avoid oceans. We'll see first tunnels in few weeks after the start.

Removing teleportation is probably the worst idea ever... Sure it may be realistic, but do we really want this game to become so painful to play that most of the population will just quit?

I honestly thought Oceans would extend down the mine levels to prevent having the ability to have intercontinental tunnels. Though actually making a 1 minimap border outside of all continents would be better as that would still leave decent area to mine in unless theyre going to give us 10+ levels of mines in that case have oceans extend downwards.

Also fuck Granger the whingers ideas, prolly still pissed they laughed at the idea of stat caps ever coming back.

actually having most of the population quit isnt such a bad idea more places to raid ¦]
