Ocean Color on Minimap

Postby ULGMsean » Sat Feb 02, 2019 3:12 am

I think it's better to have dark blue color for oceans and have its light blue variant for rivers and lakes instead. Well I mean darker means its more deeper than the other. .

+1 follow proper depth mapping
W3 to W6 - Blockland. Special mentions: New Avalon, Tarn of Hotdog, Red October.
W7 - Elvenia, til we all got lazy.
W8 - Cult of R'lyeh, til the deeps called us back.
W9 - Tartarus, til death/wizards came for the land itself.
W10 - ???, ruined and forgotten.

That would cause confusion for the old players though.
Also even though turquoise-ish colour doesn't mean deeper in real life maps, it still can be associated with sea or ocean in one's mind.
And it just looks nicer to the eye than good old river blue and it seems like we're going to look at it A LOT.
So I'm in favor for leaving it as it is.

I agree with Sholom and DatSheep, fine idea but would be too confusing.
Total misplay.

That was actually my first impulse, but I found that this makes it easier to distinguish, tbt, and I think a turn lighter could be justified by all the salt.

Yeah. The colour as it is makes plenty of sense, given that the ocean tends to be that 'sea green' colour.

The deep sea Usually has a very pretty blue color. Coastal waters tend to range from green to sewer water grey depending on the waste and pollution. If its overcast the sea tends to take on a very foreboding grey

I live on the Emerald Coast here in Florida. Our beaches are always turquoise during the day them turn bright emerald green around sunset. I dig the minimap color, promotes overall clarity.
