Purposed change to Mining Supports

Postby Vassteel » Tue Feb 05, 2019 1:47 pm

So I was thinking.

Why cant we move mine supports around?

Obviously Removing a support that isn't completely covered by other supports will cause a cave in damaging all supports effected.

But why not allow us to build the mine support and Stockpile them. (Not in an actual stock pile but lay them to gether like stockpiled tree logs)
When they need to be used they can be lifted and then put into place

This way we can take the temporary structures down once the tower caps we plant mature and use them elsewhere in the mine. :3

Playing on easy mode, are we?

Do we get some nice visual rumbles and an ominous creaking/cracking sound when a cave in is prevented?

probably because thats not what you do when you mine. when youre done with a mine IRL you backfill it with whatever trash, stones, dirt whatever you got, and go away. once youve got some metal in game theres no reason to care about the metal cost of building supports. they pay for themselves 10x over.

I like the idea of being able to construct and then carry a mine support to a location but not being able to remove it once it's been set up in a cave I think is for the best
