Waive palisade repair timer on fresh (soaking) walls

Postby Vigilance » Fri Feb 08, 2019 1:36 pm

Just designed my wall. Made an oopsie because I wasn't smart enough to plan out an extra feature before I set the wall. Wanted to bash a cornerpost for AESTHETICS. Now have two sections of 25% wall that will be 25% for quite some time based on what I'm observing. Walls are still fresh as fuck, and it's kinda weird that I can just set new full health walls right next to these also brand new walls that got domino'd.

Would appreciate a change to where you can repair soaking walls independent of the timer but dependent on the usual destruction mechanics to prevent edge-case abuses. (IE, cannot repair while its being bashed.)

W8 - Cult of R'lyeh, til the deeps called us back.
W9 - Tartarus, til death/wizards came for the land itself.
W10 - ???, ruined and forgotten.

maybe this thread was too young for its time

im about to do re-structuring of my village again which means bashing down a wall, but the cascade will probably hit some of my exterior walls and leave them at less than 100% for quite a while. i dont think im fully repaired STILL on the two segments i wrote this thread complaining about.

i'd like to expand on my own idea and make it so the repair timer is also waived on walls that are being sieged by **ONLY** your own town/the claimholders. IE, if I wrecking ball my wall, and the damage splash extends hella far and I don't want those segments to go down, I should be able to repair them back up. there would need to be a check to make sure in the event of multiple siegers I am not able to, for example, catapult my own wall 2nd after someone else does and then get a free repair on it to circumvent this mechanic.

There should be a structure that can be built to stop cascading of walls at a defined place.

Thought experiment: Is there ever a time where it would be critical for a cascade to go past a corner post? Could just make it so when a corner post dies it doesn't transmit the destruction past itself. Corner post itself being destroyed probably needed to stop walls having alternating pillars so knocking them down would only create small gaps.

Thoughts? I'm sure I'm missing something.

Honestly it'd be nice if it just didn't cascade from bashing, does it make much sense that if you want to tweak your wall's layout you'd smash it to such an extent that it cascades? (maybe it's made so poorly it falls down comically when you take one log out)

But yeah had the same thing happen to me, annoying but repaired from 25% to 100% in just a few days, just have to keep at it

Adds a lot of complexity for a marginal benefit. Just repair them over time.
