Tree Growth Speed

Make the natural quality of trees reflect their growth speed in that region.

If a tree would grow at double speed, make it's q, found in the wild, 40
If a tree would grow at half speed, make it's q, found in the wild, 2.5

That way we can tell how fast trees should grow without making us watch.

There should not be quality 40 trees in the wild.

The suggestion would mess with quality advancement too much.

So far I'm keeping an eye on what trees are growing naturally as babies and going to check if maybe those are what grows in the area. Herb table is a bit off though because I'm a non-faction noob.

There also shouldn't be trees that grow at double speed. Trees that grow that fast would be a far bigger problem than their starting q. In previous worlds I have personally witnessed q60, water, clay, and soil. I know much higher exist. A group of no-lifers could have q40 trees by now.

If it would mess with quality advancement too much, just remove/reduce the square root expression. Now a tree that grows at double speed would be q20. Assuming that jorbtar put in a reasonable spread of tree growth speed variation, a q20/q40 tree would be less than absolute highest you could ever see in the wild

My suggestion is simply to hijack the natural quality of trees to give information to the player. Information that would be very difficult to get otherwise. It gives information to the player it a simple a clear message that these trees are just better in this location.

I personally find the idea of questing it to find a high speed tree spot infinitely more fun than watching them grow real close.

Think of it not as trees growing at double speed, but trees growing slower because they're in the wrong soil and water conditions. Perspective is important.
