Cosmetics Shop built into client

Is that in the pipeline? Why so much friction to supporting the game?

edit: something in the $3 range would also be nice. think how common that number is for microtransactions on other platforms. by far the most common donation to twitch streamers is $3. it is easy to pull the trigger on that value. I see custom imagery at $2.50 but it's all the way at the bottom and requires some amount of labor and desire from the user to upload imagery.

other cosmetics suggestions: premium in-game emotes. custom speech balloon colors or other features in that regard. maybe something transient like a ticker of donation messages on the website landing page or client log-in screen (a-la streamers on-screen messages).

Ability to link your credit card to the client and then have button which donates a $ would be nice!

keep this stuff out of the game so in 4 years apxelog's cousin cpxelog (or any shady custom client dev) doesnt turn out to be phishing card info from people

website is fine.

you don't need to actually punch your card into the client. there are plenty of secure ways to handle transactions. register through the website and redeem through the client. no problem. better, use paypal or another 3rd party payment processor. custom client devs could already be stealing your passwords. adding this to the client isn't really a matter of if. it's something they will eventually need to do to inflate their success.

see above. if you guys have never handled adding such a feature to an app I can see how it would seem confusing and insecure. it isn't.

I dont think that it would be that insecure.
You are already downloading and executing some random programs from the internet from random people by using custom client.
Probably even with administrator rights, without questions asked.
(Even though you can probably do a lot of harmful stuff even without those)

If it's so easy and secure, why do so many apps fail at it? Educate us. (it's not my area of expertise, but I know some of the data. Also, it's your suggestion. I don't care for it, as I can't stand it in other games, and I'm not backing it up when the client IS open source and in Java.)
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.
