Beeskeps made from larvae?

Postby Field » Thu Feb 21, 2019 4:34 am

I was raised in a family, where my grandfather is a beekeeper for a hobby. I find it very inaccurate that we make the new hives out of larvae. How do we make sure they are growing into the productive bees we need? Usually hives are started with a queen, workers and the males to keep things going. We already see the division in the ants in the game, so why not for the bees?

I do agree this would make it somewhat harder to start a bee hive, but would be far more accurate I feel. If nothing else, it'd provide new curios from hives and for simplicity's sake we could keep the recipe the same, with larvae to not mess with the players. Dunno how community feels.

In fact the beekeeping could be developed further, but that's an idea for some other time.

Maybe instead of needing 3 puny larvae from a wild hive, we should beg our developer overlords to make raiding wild hives also return Queen Bee's RARELY, much like raiding an anthill and getting an Ant Empress.

You normally get random types of larvae 60% of the time (Edible) , Maybe some bee warriors 35% of the time (Curio), and a Queen Bee 5% of the time that can be studied or used in crafting bee skeps.

Seems like a great idea.

Why you don't tell about amount of larvae in bee skep? IMO wild beehives should drop random amount of bee larvae from 1 to 1000, this would be more realistic than bee hives being guarded by tons of bees but having only 3 or 6 larvae in them.

Well, if the hamfisted actions of a hearthling didn't actually kill everything in the hive and destroy it, you might have a point.

+1
I love little mini-games imbued into game mechanics, and this could be one. I think it even was like that in Salem, though I don't remember if that was J&Lo who did it, or the people after them.
