Also I want to see barrel contents quality. Please.

Pretty sure it's hidden because the server doesn't actually send that info until you attempt to interact with it. Just like trees couldn't show whether or not there was fruit and it wasn't exactly a trivial fix iirc. So I'm going to go on a limb and probably be wrong by saying that it has to do with architecture that in retrospect was badly planned for future modification, a pain to fix, and provides a fairly minor benefit to the game's playability.

That's a lot of assumption though based off what I remember of the whole fruit on tree discussion. I think it's also why we can't craft out of barrels.

Will consider, at least.

It's because it's not trivial to send that information to the client in a structured and general way. It's certainly possible to fix, and I'm sure we'll get around to it sooner or later, but the ratio of work required to the output acquired feels pretty slim, so it's not exactly at the top of the list of stuff to do.

I did actually try it with tar and thought it failed, guess I just messed it up somehow.

Pretty good news! Maybe some other mechanics you will be able to show up with that method? Like taming cooldown, pregnancy progress (for herder credo, for example)

I dont think that you should be able to see all timers accurately. Maybe something to tell if the animal is close to taming stance or far away from it, but no exact numbers.
