Personal floatation device

Now that we have oceans and stuff, we should also get life vests!
Made from string, cloth and corks.

Basically you wouldn't drown while wearing them, but maybe your swimming speed and agility would be greatly reduced?
Then you could have your friends come and rescue you from the sea, or slowly float to shore.

Above, we can see a photo of men with life vests made from cork.

+1
Reduced stamina usage when swimming and possibly even 0 while not moving at all would be nice. That way you at least stand a chance if your ship gets wrecked in the ocean.

Yes! No stamina drain when standing still, and reduced when swimming would be nice.

Probably won't completely save you from sinking in the middle of the ocean, but might be enough. I'd still carry that silver for the ferryman.

Honestly I'm against this. It seems too soft to let people go in water without any repercussion. The oceans were designed to be a limiting factor.

As a rule of thumb, everything that makes life easyer and less boring/grinding for players is a great idea. Everything that makes the game harder is crap coming from sadistic tendencies of Jorbtar helped by the few players with the same kind of disorders.

Would people be able to hearth home with them?
Do you expect them to be able to swim to shore?
Can people keep one in their inventory to swim across lakes?
Could people just swim across the ocean with a couple buckets of sweetwater?

If they're swimming? No. You can't hearth when you're swimming.

Looks to be the whole point to me. A way to swim to shore. Better question is: how would stamina regen work while floating in water with one of these on? Would it be more a chance for rescue, or provide the means to swim to shore from anywhere given the time?

I'd have to say no to this. More to the point, I'd think that any unsealed containers would lose their contents and be turned into saltwater. Waterskins or nothing if you want to keep your drink fresh.

Would render Silver for the Ferryman totally useless and making it too cheap would also make the thing too much useful.

+1 if boat damage doesn't change tho

If you are in middle of the ocean, you couldn't swim to shore with only your life vest of course.

Maybe stamina should regenerate, but you couldn't drink. So swimming long distances would take forever.

Other option is that you wouldn't lose stamina at all (or very slowly, so you can last for hours) while standing still, but you wouldn't regenerate it. Then you could wait for rescue and swim a bit when it arrives.

I am not sure how it should work as there are many options. Devs may choose what they think fits the best.

What comes to silver for ferrymen.. It should be nerfed or removed and replaced with life vests.
