Let us get light from fish

We have Fish, We have the ability to dry fish, Give us the ability to shove a stick up it's ass and light it, please!

What am i talking about? Candlefish of course. we have bees's wax and the ability to make wax candles. we have Fat and Tallow Candles, we have candleberries and candleberry wax, why not Candlefish?

The name "candlefish" derives from it being so fat during spawning, with up to 15% of total body weight in fat, that if caught, dried, and strung on a wick, it can be burned as a candle. This is the name most often used by early explorers.

so, while the Candlefish is not nessecarily native to the Nordic area, there ARE Smelt in the area and could potentialy be used for the purpose.

Do we really need more light sources though, seeing as they are more or less useless?

+1 I guess if it's just adding another species of fish, -1 to allowing us to use any fish though.

Gross. Neat, but gross. Imo make a curiosity crafted by shoving a candle up a smelt's ass.

you dont want to burn a candle fish the smell of burning fish is pretty bad.

maybe the ability to put them in a press and get candlefish oil which can be soaked into a cattail head cluster and then lit on fire?

but yeah budzilla said it lightsources are useless.

I was just being a dork and joking around about adding candlefish and fully expected to get all kinds of replies about how stupid the idea was... instead i got actual replies. you guys are awesome

if its not a grainger post its a legit post.

more light sources would be nice if light had a purpose. ( even if its just a CTRL+N toggle we still want the option jorb)

The only way light will get used that way is probably going to be a darkness mechanic like Don't Starve. But I'm not gonna lie, I've never once enjoyed those types of mechanics. That or some kind of feng shui type idea I guess.

Reduce view/render distance in caves, unless you have a light source equipped.

We got another thread for that.

I'd just be happy if the client could render more than one light source. i'd have torches everywhere... well, maybe not. too many lights can kill fps, and not everyone has something more than a toaster.
