Yeah if you want to abstract away the materials/quality calculations in repairing armor, create a workstation that can repair armor and just use it's quality as a calculation instead.
Making new armor every few days isn't the biggest complaint for me, but having armor with good gilds isn't feasible because you know it's just gonna break after awhile.
