Just got knocked out because I opened a cave gallery and then tried using it to mine one of the revealed tiles. Turns out that the tiles revealed by a gallery aren't inherently safe and don't do anything to indicate safe/unsafe status, meaning that they simply fuck up your game of minesweeper if you're trying to get somewhere. You can't safely use a cave gallery for anything without supporting it, which seems to make it utterly pointless.

its pretty stupid you cant see the dust though

Definitely not alone on this one.

I think dust falling to the ground would be a decent compromise. I still like the idea of them revealing a little reward or something.

Basically they, when working as advertised by the accompanying experience, open up into a prior unmapped natural cave and their walls work identical (no clue what material the wall tiles are and no resource gained from hacking at it, while not uncovered by having mined an adjacent tile). While finding something in them would be nice (like some critters to study, eat or be eaten) I can live with the general idea, especially because of them breaking the minesweeper routine.
Have you noticed that they seem to curve toward ore deposits?

Ceterum censeo this defect of them has to go.

+1 they are just a nuisance tbh

If they were much bigger or created guaranteed non dust tiles they would be a nice thing, as they are right now they usually just reveal a small number of tiles that you cant risk mining so it forces you to place a mine support :?

They should work similar to the way minesweeper works when you click a tile that has no mines around, it clears all safe tiles. Why force us to use the minesweeper mechanic, and then make it impossible to actually do?
