New Credo: Builder

Postby Mr_Bober » Wed Feb 27, 2019 3:46 pm

As suggested by MagicManICT, I'm making specific topics for each of the new credo ideas.

Builder Credo.
Depending on Lumberjack and Quarryman.

Possible rewards, in no particular order:
- Carpentry +15 and Masonry +15 (makes for better building materials)
- Significantly increased building speed;
- Small chance of not consuming a material when building (% on each unit);
- Significantly reduced stamina drain when building;
- Small quality bonus when building;
- Structures (such as Palisades) gain HP faster;

Possibly the ability to make a unique structure, like Bridges.

This is way too potentially powerful in every single way it would affect every industry. No way this could exist.

Building is just a labor alt task for safe palisade spamming. There's no skills relevant to building and it encourages alts because of the energy intensive nature of it. Any credo regarding this just seems like every village slaps it on an alt they log on when they start building a new village, building safe palisades, or just building a lot of stuff. Don't really think such a credo would be good.

This is specifically why we need such a credo. It would require time and effort to get it, so it would just be a random alt thing.
Right now you can take fresh alt and make him build up anything. With such a credo, u would have to go through a long process to get it, therefore it wouldn't be just "an alt", it would be an actual character you had to play for a long time (which is why credos are great, u can't just slap LP on it and be done with it)

The effort in building quality buildings is in acquiring the components. You can't alt that. It's enough, and attaching quality to assembling items A) hurts trade as hermits/small villages need to purchase more than just the components to make something and B) becomes a general inconvenience of needing to rely on a specific character to build everything from every profession.

Good idea but this would help mainly in the first weeks of the game or so.
With amount of credos inflating, it may be a problem. Why would people waste their credo quest thing for this?

How is that different than, let's say, blacksmithing?
If I'm a hermit, I can buy the best iron I can find, but I'll still need Smithing, Strength, and ideally the Blacksmith Credo (+5%) to get the best possible outcome.
Me not having the Blacksmith credo doesn't mean I can't build very good quality stuff, since that 5% is not in the quality formula. The bonus from Builder Credo would work just the same.

Most stuff keeps getting rebuilt for quality, so the quality bonus would be a good reason. You'll keep making new kilns, ovens, tubs and so on as you get potter clay and higher quality materials.

Also, that's why a unique building, such as bridges or something, would be a huge incentive to get this credo.

-1, the game doesn't need more credos, it needs to improve upon existing ones!
