Salt

Postby Yorla » Fri Mar 01, 2019 12:24 am

I've heard on the stream the question about salt boiling was risen once again and I just thought what if we could use the local resource salt as a mandatory initiative crystal in the cauldron while boiling sea water in order to get another salt crystal with the quality affected by water and cauldron? Or just let us boil it out ordinary but add satiation for salt like you did with drinks. :)
And here I should apologize for my spelling... But I won't! Deal with it :P

-1, would make the localized nodes useless. I suggest they add a different type of salt you get from boiling saltwater, that can be used as a spice in recipes. Currently all the spices we have are hard to come by.

In the first scenario you will still need the local salt.

If anything, salt from sea water should simply be another spice.

Or like, salt water would be used to pickle stuff Image disregarding how stupid it might seem.

Both of these sound like plausible ideas. Local resource salt and sea salt could just be separate things, and sea salt could be used for recipes in cooking like pickling food unlike the salt you get from salt basins.

Thinking about how localised resources are claimed, palisaded, farmed with alts, I say
+1 BECAUSE would make the localized nodes of salt less precious.

As a rule of thumb, everything that makes life easyer and less boring/grinding for players is a great idea. Everything that makes the game harder is crap coming from sadistic tendencies of Jorbtar helped by the few players with the same kind of disorders.

I think you are highly overrating the value of salt, especially in W11. Salt was already nerfed on world start, and even in W10, the amount of salt basins I've seen with a palisade around them are minuscule. Even then, you could easily reduce hunger through quests. With quests nerfed, it's not quite as easy as before, but it's still more than possible.

Salt has even less value now because of the way satiations work. You can eat a small amount of food at best without messing up your satiations, compared to W10 where you'd be gobbling down cupboards of food all in one sitting. Now you have a lot of downtime between eating food, and you can just use that time to do quests and get your hunger down.
