Shoveling coal

Postby Sevenless » Sat Mar 02, 2019 12:30 am

Seems pointless to have macros for this when an ingame mechanic could replace it pretty easily. Due to how ore is cooked by players wheelbarrowing coal doesn't fill this need, so why not the humble shovel?

If character has shovel equipped:
Right clicking on a coal stockpile shovels up 12 coal if the shovel has less than 12 coal loaded
Right clicking on a smelter with the shovel adds in 12 or 9 if all the ore inside require 9 to cook
Right clicking on ground empties the shovel and creates a new stockpile

Good idea!
Coal shovel could be the name for it, a bit wider than the normal shovel.

I was debating that idea, but why does it need to be a unique item? Right clicking on a coal pile with a shovel equipped is an unlikely enough action that we could just include its functionality into metal shovels.

Either way, back to macroing my smelters.

A good idea for shoveling small amounts of stockpiles in general such as soil or stones. +1

Since this is a hard coded thing, keeping with how haven UI tends to do things, it would need to have simplistic parameters.

What use cases would you want for shoveling soil or stones?

It would be nice if the shovel could be used as a mini-wheel barrow for coal dirt and stone. Maybe only moving 20-30 units at a time.

I think the idea is that you could throw the right amount into smelter to smelt 1 batch of ore.

Right, but why give it so narrow of a purpose. If it's function is similar to a wheelbarrow with a 30 unit limit you could just as easily make separate piles of coal with the right amount to go into a smelter.
