I was considering maybe a different approach to tabards from a game I know a lot of you are familiar with, Wurm. Currently the tabard shares a slot with multiple other equipment like the bear coat for example and clearly isnt the better pick stat wise, nor should it be. But what if it didnt have any slot and merely was a visual equipment, similar to that of hats? Or perhaps you could take away its gildable slot and make a seperate slot for purely tabards?
Dont get me wrong I dont want to take away the mystery of meeting a random stranger in the wild, but I know, at least in Wurm, tabards were a way to clearly identify people by their kingdoms or even just proved as a way to be proud and represent your own kingdom. I think that would be a really nice addition to haven also.
My next qualm with them is the actual look of the tabards themselves. I get that its really not easy to make custom image items in this game without them looking somewhat off but I think the actual design of the tabard could be improved upon. It would be nice if we could map the ‘whole tabard’ including the trimmings as opposed to just the centre of it, see some typical Wurm tabards for example;
