Hunter Credo - Make arrows not affect q

Postby DeadlyPencil » Tue Mar 05, 2019 12:16 am

We already have survival capping quality, can we make it so hunter credo's (arrow quality doesn't hurt as much) is changed so that once you get it, arrow q doesn't affect animal q at all? survival still would though.

my rational is that hunting with bow and arrow wont be viable for probably like 3-6 months. You would have to get 300q arrows, otherwise you will hunt with a melee weapon.

if you made this change you could actually hunt with a bow once you got the hunter credo the same as you can with melee.

then what would be the point of hunting in melee? that would make hunting with bow meta as its inherently easier to kill an animal from a far, the quality drop is the price for safely killing animal from a distance

It's not the price, it's the death of it. "Hunting" by beating a bear to death with a sword feels odd thematically.

but animals anyway run away when you shoot them first time, it's not so easy to bow-kill someone without trap

I have a better idea.
Instead of fixing the dead archery, how about we just put soft caps on melee too? The bad quality sword is clearly damaging that 180q bear's hide and meat.

Use only your fists if you want to secure the quality!

While eliminoid has a point, I'm still preffering the suggestion of OP.
Hunting with ranged is punishing enough.

+1 to this suggestion. Even just 1 or 2 arrows can seriously cripple the quality of an animal. MM is pretty much useless right now.

At the moment, the only reason I see to ever use a bow is when you are literally forced to do so for the hunter credo.
