Warehouses

Postby Okocim » Wed Mar 06, 2019 7:44 pm

At w10 we have stored everything at -1 in cupboards, it was huge warehouse of our village.
Everything was easy to access and we had easily expandable storage.
Since we have decay in mines now and cupboards need only one hit to disappear it's no longer an option.
We need an ability to easily store our stuff. Peoples around create whole factories and the best solution for storage is building multiple stone mansions. It's just tedious to come in and out of them to look for the stuff you need.
I can agree that storing it in cbs placed in mines is anticlimactic.
So my proposition to fix the problem is the warehouse building. Simple but big building to store stuff, at most two floors and big cellar, optimally should come in pair with some warehouse specific container eg "Warehouse Shelf" (9x9 storage, buildable in warehouse only, unliftable, 1x1 hitbox, 4 hard metal and 16 boards to build).
I can't believe that the same heartlings that can create great kingdoms, and traverse seas don't know how to build one... We can build ports, port towns were usually filled with warehouses.

Will certainly have to wait for freeform buildings.

Would be fun though to be able to drive a wagon into a storehouse.

There is already a large buildings great for storage. the great hall.

You don't want to spend materials on it, or on large chests underground or whatever, so you are looking to add another building that would just be a cheaper great hall? It's a no for me.

Large Hall, as all prefab buildings, sucks in comparison to being able to build freely.
Which will come, at some point, hopefully soon.

Sure it does, but the idea here was to just add another large, pre-made building for storage. Which is already what the great hall is for.

When freedom of building will come, it will be interesting. Unfortunately it will probably come with a large dose of abuse from players too...

I support the idea to a degree, although the dynamic building system jorb has long intended to add would be better (if it ever happens)
For the record I’d like to note that stone towers are by far the most efficient use of space for storage, so there’s that
