Farming: Harvest, & Planting Pattern

Auto harvest and planting are great features to farming, even if they dont auto stockpile. Whats not great is the path taken when you do either of these jobs. Why do we go in circles? Whats with that? It makes a small amount of sense for the survey flags, but farming? No sense is in the making here. The path taken should be in one row to the next, starting from the corner you drag the area selector with. Please make area select jobs follow a normal path.

It's already doing that for planting.

But I dislike it, I like the mode for harvesting (nearest matching tile) better as it's more efficient for areas that can only partly processed (eg. because not all crops have grown yet).

The search pattern isn't necessarily a circle. It only makes a circle if you start out at just the right position. If you start out in another position, you will definitely go up and down columns.

I should note that I think start position (X, Y) to end position (X1, Y1) should always be the thing as suggested in the OP. I don't always mind the meandering walk for some things, but when it comes to planting crops, it definitely makes it hard to sort seeds in quality preference.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

It's not the end of the world, but it does bother me mildly when I create crop circles in my hemp fields.
