Quest

It seems like quests are not exactly balanced and really boring and the only people who use them are those obsessed with the game.

I agree aswell. The mechanics are so boring and is not involving at all. Talking to trees and rocks?
I play the game as if quests do not exist.

+1
I do some quests, and sometimes you even get some cool rewards from it, but it's still boring as hell.

A few minor changes that would already slightly improve questing would be making sure NPCs are reachable (e.g. not on the other side of the ocean), showing them on map as u get the quest (so u can see if u need a boat to get there), and more importantly telling you what the reward is going to be.

As for how to make it actually fun, no clue. But more rewarding rewards (...) would be a good start to pull more people in.

I get the whole hunger thing is a big deal, but plenty of casual players and hermits don't really care too much about it. They'd probably rather get a good curios, some high q seeds or tree-seeds, or some decent gildings or items, rather than some hunger reduction.

Yeah, quests seem to appeal to the minority of players who can do them all day but are ridiculously boring, nonetheless.

I've tried to make myself do more of them, but it is so terrible to run around and just talk to trees and rocks that are miles apart for 1k LP.

The quest system needs some change to make it more enjoyable for a player to do and less rewarding to those who do them 24/7, a nice middle-ground is needed.

mhm as a hermit i see no incentive to quest as there is too much to do, like prospecting a whole super grid to look for ore, if i am lucky and i have a quest in that area i might do it for that extra 300 xp but other than that there is no time for it. I have water l, clay, soil at q50+ with trees entering 3rd gen and i am hard stuck at tin with metal so obviously i would rather look for iron or copper than take a naked swim.

I like quests since it gives you something to do once you run out of base chores.

Yep. The attitude to quests seems to shift with time. In the beginning it's way too much to do without quests but later they come to fill an appearing niche.

Doesn't mean they are perfect at what they are now. Feels as it should be possible to improve that system. Not sure how though.

Pick up farming, you'll never run out of chores.
