Claimed quest givers should die

Postby ErdTod » Wed Mar 13, 2019 12:13 pm

Topics about quest givers calmed down with world progression, as more people got bored of quests. But the problem of walled-off claimed quest-givers persists. And since in latest patch there was a note that Devs are thinking on QG stuff - my suggestion is simply let the questgiver be banished if a claim activates on it. No one will ever siege just for a tree that can be chopped in 30 sec. No PvP will be encouraged by this - no one will risk their character for a boulder - it's just griefing, that makes people abandon credo quests, frustrate and do some inconvenient stuff like going few maps away to finish quests so you get local non-walled quest-givers in next pack of quests.

+1 sounds fair.

Never been a fan of claimed NPCs, and this world I've already seen 3 people having to abandon their last credo quest simply because they couldn't deliver an item to the NPCs.
I know it makes no difference if it's the 2nd or last quest, but when in your mind you think you're done with a credo, and when you reach the NPC u find it walled off, that just destroys you

This is based on an assumption that people know all the spirits in the area. A month and a half in and I'm still finding new ones regularly--not at the same rate as the start of the world, but a couple a week, anyway.

that said, it does sound like a reasonable idea. It at least solves the problem of getting said group/player to cut down the tree so I won't be annoyed with getting quests to it that I have to abandon. The bigger question is geting the devs to implement it. Loftar, at least, has been reluctant to do anything with the "enclosed in fence" part, but the claim suggestion might be doable... though that does eliminate the possibility of players dropping a claim and giving permissions to protect a spirit.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

The spirit should, in case it gets cut down or claimed, just move to a new host nearby. There, done. You're welcome.

No idea why we need yet another topic about the same, likely the cumulative time people spent on stating the obvious would have been enought to code and test the change to the mechanic.

FBI wants to know your location.

The fact that people can be denied opportunity to complete quests is kinda annoying - some sort of solution should be reached, perhaps increase the distance you can interact with quest givers so people could complete them from behind palisades if it's not too far away.

Another thought - Prevent new quests from selecting questgivers from inaccessible areas. If a questgiver is in a claim without guest permissions, then it will not be randomly chosen as a destination for someone's next quest. If this results in too few nearby "available" questgivers, then questgivers inside claims start dying and new ones spawn.

Sounds overly complicated.
Just let them die, and RIP.

Walled+claim should die, support. Retarded to travel 2-3h to find out questgiver is behind some retarded 24h cooldown siege Pali.

Garbage system currently.

No thanks. I walled a questgiver with an open visitor gate and trespass permissions for white. It lets me protect my neighbouhood questgiver and makes a great spot for a shop because the questgiver brings people in.
