Why are they not edible?

While there are some 'niche' uses, rowan fruit is generally inedible for humans when raw. Though they could be used in recipes, as heating does render them (at least partially) palatable.

I have eaten lots of them. They are not inedible.

Sure you can also make different foods from them, like jelly and juice. But they can be eaten raw as well.

+1 because I want lots of fruit and berry preserves/jams/jellies Jorbtar! Pleaseee. Can be used on most baked stuff i guess with a little boost like adding spices does. Or dont even, idc. Just looks cool and stuff.

When I googled 'sorb apple,' I got a bunch of stuff about rowan. Case closed.

sorb apple trees are sorbus domestica, i think rowan trees are sorbus aucuparia

all berries should be edible. it should be up to the hearthling to discover which ones are palatable and which ones are toxic
