Angled Surveys

Postby Winnfield » Sun Mar 17, 2019 2:16 pm

Currently you can use the scroll bar in a survey to ‘flatten’ an area but what about when you want to create things like ramps? Lets say you wanted to place a 20x2 survey to create a road but you wanted to dig it ramped down, currently you have to do it tile by tile.

My idea is simple, alongside the scroll bar for level height have a scroll bar for angle so you can rotate your survey up to 45 degrees for example.

As someone who enjoys building with the terrain as opposed to dirt genocide, I'd like this. Exactly how to implement it could be tricky, but I think a reasonable UI is possible. Maybe pick the desired height of each corner of the entire survey area?

That sounds reasonable and not too hard to implement.

I'd like to see this too, but a tip to doing it mildly less time consuming in nature would be to set surveys at least 3 to 4 tiles down the ramp in the direct you're going, bring it to the level you want it and just "make level".

If you're doing a 5 dirt slant you just make level, delete survey, survey next 3 tiles, lower it by 5, make level, repeat. Still time consuming but less so
