Quest givers distance on on markers

Postby Alitis » Wed Mar 20, 2019 8:34 pm

Consider mentioning the distance on the indicators to the direction of the quest givers. I just lost 1 hour walking to a direction. That. nothing else. just walking and avoiding threats after my inventory filled. almost at the other side of the continent and have not found the quest giver yet. Not only it is not fun, it is frustrating.

I am not sure why custom client does not add this feature yet.

Suggested plenty of times, but also rejected as it makes navigation too easy. Will not change.

You could at least use something like " Close" , "Far" , "very far" etc , otherwise its bye bye quests

It seem silly to me to reject it on this basis when server is already sending position of these objects to client. Some private custom client probably already implements this feature!

This.
Its very easy to calculate where they are with current system.
Another alternative is to make quest givers act in same manner to tracking scents, which would make calculating the distance accurately a bit more difficult.

One bit more extreme approach to the problem:
Remove arrow completely, and instead, add an act that tells you which direction the quest giver currently is (from the 8 cardinal directions)
This way it would be a bit more effort to find questgivers at first, but when you know their location you would know the route.

Current system is a bit silly, that you know precisely which direction it is, and also location with bit of triangulation.

Or then just remove quests.
Thats what I'd suggest!
